Overview
Trend alignment across three timeframes
Quantum Trend EA is a MetaTrader 5 Expert Advisor that trades in the direction agreed by three timeframes. The daily chart sets the regime, the H4 chart confirms that the current swing is moving with that regime, and the H1 chart provides the entry timing. When the three disagree, Quantum does nothing. This alignment rule means fewer trades than a single-timeframe system, but the trades it does take have the larger structure behind them.
Regime, swing and trigger
The daily regime is derived from the slope and separation of two long-period moving averages combined with a closing-price position test against a volatility envelope. The H4 swing filter checks that the most recent completed swing made a higher high in an uptrend or a lower low in a downtrend. The H1 trigger is a close beyond a short consolidation after a pullback toward the H4 moving average. Stops are placed under or over the consolidation with an ATR buffer. Quantum can hold a maximum of one position per symbol and will not add to a position once it is open.
Scaling out at structure
Rather than a single target, Quantum exits in two parts. Half the position closes at the nearest H4 swing level ahead of price, and the remaining half runs with a trailing stop that steps behind completed H1 swings. If the daily regime flips while a trade is open, the remaining position is closed at the next H1 close rather than waiting for the trailing stop. This keeps a reversal on the highest timeframe from turning a winner into a large loser.
Instrument presets
Quantum ships with presets for EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY and XAUUSD. Each preset sets the moving-average lengths, ATR buffers and consolidation size in a way that matches that instrument's typical daily range, and each was tested independently. The gold preset uses wider buffers and a lower risk percentage by default. You can run all four on one account from four charts; each chart uses its own magic number, and a shared account-level daily loss limit stops every instance when reached.
What is in the download
The archive holds the compiled .ex5, four instrument presets, the strategy tester configuration for the sample backtests, and a PDF guide. The guide includes a section on running Quantum during the tester's forward-test mode so you can compare optimisation and forward periods yourself before trusting any parameter set.
Setting expectations
Multi-timeframe trend systems have long quiet stretches and depend on a few extended moves per year for most of their result. The sample backtest below covers 2021 to 2025 across all four instruments combined and shows a win rate under fifty percent with a positive average trade, which is the normal profile for this approach. Those figures come from the strategy tester, are labelled as sample data, and are not a projection of what your account will do.

Questions
Can I trade a symbol that does not have a preset?
Technically yes, but the vendor has not tested other instruments and does not publish results for them. If you do, run the tester's forward mode with your own data first and start with the smallest risk setting.
Why does the panel say the regime is not ready?
The daily filter needs about 400 completed daily bars. Open a D1 chart of the symbol and scroll back to force the terminal to download history, then the panel updates within a minute.
Does the shared daily loss limit cover trades from other EAs?
No. It counts realised and floating results from Quantum instances only. For account-wide limits across every EA and manual trade, pair it with Vector Risk Panel.
Support
Northwind Quant Labs supports Quantum through marketplace tickets within two business days. Attach your terminal build, broker, the preset in use and the Experts log. Requests for additional instrument presets are collected and, where the vendor's tests support them, released as free updates during your update period.
Risk
Trading carries risk
Leveraged trading in currencies and metals carries a high risk of loss. Quantum Trend EA opens real positions on your account and can experience extended drawdowns during range-bound markets, which may last for months. Stops are subject to slippage and weekend gaps, and gold in particular can move sharply on news. The performance figures shown are sample strategy-tester output, labelled as such, and do not indicate or guarantee future results.
Trading foreign exchange, metals, indices and other leveraged products carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance, backtests and demo results do not guarantee future results. Automated trading software can lose money quickly, especially with leverage. Only trade with capital you can afford to lose, test every tool on a demo account first, and seek independent financial advice if you are unsure. Nothing on this website is investment advice.
