Overview

Turn a risk plan into something the terminal enforces

Vector Risk Panel is an on-chart utility for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 that manages risk for the whole account from a single chart. It sizes new orders from a risk percentage and a stop distance, places and trails stops, and enforces daily and weekly loss limits across every position on the account, whether the position was opened by you, by Vector, or by another Expert Advisor. One license covers both platform builds, so a trader running MT4 at one broker and MT5 at another uses the same panel and the same rules on both.

Order entry with the risk decided first

The panel's order ticket asks for the stop distance or a stop price and the risk percentage, then calculates the lot size and shows the amount at risk in account currency before you click Buy or Sell. Take profit can be entered as a price, a distance or a reward-to-risk ratio. Orders can be split into up to three parts with separate targets, and pending orders are supported with the same sizing logic. Every order Vector sends includes a stop loss; the panel cannot send a market order without one.

Account-wide limits

Daily and weekly loss limits are expressed as percentages of the starting balance or equity for the period, with the reset time configurable to match your broker or your prop firm. When realised plus floating losses reach the limit, Vector closes every open position on the account, deletes pending orders, and locks trading until the next period. The lock disables the panel's own order buttons and, on MT5, can disable Algo Trading so other Expert Advisors are also stopped. A separate maximum-open-risk limit blocks a new order if the combined worst-case loss of all open stops would exceed the percentage you set.

Trade management tools

Vector can move stops to break even after a configurable gain, trail by fixed distance, by ATR or behind recent swing points, and close a percentage of a position at a chosen level. These actions can be applied to positions from any magic number, so you can add professional trade management to an EA that lacks it. A simple news blackout, using the MT5 calendar where available and a manually entered event list on MT4, blocks the panel's order buttons for a window around events you select.

Displays

The panel shows current spread, open risk in currency and percent, today's and this week's result against the limits, and the countdown to the next reset. Values use tabular figures so they are readable at a glance on a VPS screen. A compact mode hides everything except the limits for traders who only want the guardrails.

Delivered files

You receive VectorRiskPanel.ex4 and VectorRiskPanel.ex5, four profiles (conservative, standard, prop-firm 5/10 and prop-firm 4/8) and a PDF that explains each control and how the lock behaves during disconnections. Updates are included for the lifetime of the product. Vector generates no returns of its own and therefore carries no performance data.

Requirements

  • MetaTrader 4 build 1415 or later, or MetaTrader 5 build 4410 or later.
  • Attach to one chart per terminal; the panel supervises all positions on the account.
  • Works with any symbol the broker offers; contract size and tick value are read from the terminal.
  • For the MT5 news blackout, the broker's economic calendar must be enabled; on MT4 events are entered manually.
  • Continuous connection recommended so the loss-limit lock is always active.

Broker and build compatibility

  • MT4MetaTrader 4Build 1415 and later

Accounts: Standard, Cent, Prop firm, Demo supported

Tested on standard, ECN and cent accounts. The lock cannot switch AutoTrading off on MT4; news blackout uses a manually entered event list.

  • MT5MetaTrader 5Build 4410 and later

Accounts: Standard, Cent, Prop firm, Demo supported

Tested on netting and hedging accounts including prop-firm evaluation feeds. Lock can disable Algo Trading terminal-wide. News blackout uses the broker's calendar.

Installation

  1. Download and extract the archive from your account. It contains both platform builds, a profiles folder and the guide.
  2. MetaTrader 4: open File > Open Data Folder and copy VectorRiskPanel.ex4 into MQL4/Experts; copy the profiles into MQL4/Files/VectorRisk.
  3. MetaTrader 5: open File > Open Data Folder and copy VectorRiskPanel.ex5 into MQL5/Experts; copy the profiles into MQL5/Files/VectorRisk.
  4. Restart the terminal so the panel appears in the Navigator under Expert Advisors.
  5. Enable AutoTrading (MT4) or Algo Trading (MT5) on the toolbar and allow automated trading in the terminal options.
  6. Open any chart and drag VectorRiskPanel onto it, ticking the live-trading permission in the dialog.
  7. Enter your license email and choose a profile; the panel draws on the chart.
  8. Set your daily and weekly limits and the reset time, then confirm the countdown to the next reset shows the expected value.

Questions

Does one license cover both my MT4 and MT5 terminals?

Yes. The license allows three activations across either platform, so you could run MT4 at one broker, MT5 at another and a demo of either.

Will the daily lock also stop my Expert Advisors?

On MT5 yes, if you enable the option to disable Algo Trading terminal-wide. On MT4 the lock closes existing positions and blocks the panel's own buttons, but MT4 does not allow a utility to switch AutoTrading off, so other EAs could still open trades unless they are removed from their charts.

Can Vector manage trades opened by another EA?

Yes. The break-even, trailing and partial-close tools can be applied to positions from any magic number or to manual trades. Be careful not to run two tools trailing the same position.

Support

Meridian Trading Tools answers Vector tickets through the marketplace, typically within one business day. Please state which platform build you are using and attach the Experts log if a limit or lock did not behave as expected.

Risk

Trading carries risk

Leveraged trading carries a substantial risk of loss. Vector Risk Panel helps enforce limits you configure but cannot prevent losses caused by gaps, slippage, disconnection or limits set too loosely for the account. A loss-limit close executes at market and may realise a larger loss than the limit during fast markets. Vector does not generate trades or returns and no performance data is shown.

Trading foreign exchange, metals, indices and other leveraged products carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance, backtests and demo results do not guarantee future results. Automated trading software can lose money quickly, especially with leverage. Only trade with capital you can afford to lose, test every tool on a demo account first, and seek independent financial advice if you are unsure. Nothing on this website is investment advice.
