Overview

Nexus EURUSD Pro is a trend-continuation Expert Advisor for EURUSD on MetaTrader 4. Rather than trying to catch reversals, it waits for a trend to be established on the H1 chart, then enters on the first orderly pullback that holds above or below a dynamic support level. Trades are held for hours to a few days and are managed with a stepped trailing stop, so the system aims to capture the middle of a move rather than its exact start or end.

How the strategy works

The trend state is measured with a Donchian channel slope and an exponential moving-average stack on H1. When both agree, Nexus marks the trend as active and watches the M15 chart for a pullback that ends with a close back in the trend direction. A single position is opened with a stop loss placed beyond the pullback low or high plus an ATR buffer. The initial target is two and a half times the stop distance; once price reaches one times the stop distance, the trailing logic takes over and moves the stop in ATR-sized steps. Nexus takes at most one trade per trend leg and will not re-enter until a new pullback has formed.

Time and news filters

The EA does not open positions during the daily rollover window, when spreads on EURUSD widen briefly, and it can optionally block entries for a configurable period before and after high-impact scheduled events using the terminal's built-in calendar feed where the broker provides one. Existing positions are left to their stops during news; Nexus never closes trades at market simply because a release is due, as that would exit the strongest moves too early.

Position sizing and drawdown control

Lot size is calculated from a percentage of equity and the actual stop distance, so risk per trade stays constant even as volatility changes. A weekly loss limit pauses new entries for the remainder of the week when reached, and a maximum-open-loss input closes the position early if floating loss exceeds a hard percentage of balance, protecting against the rare gap through a stop.

Delivered files

You receive the compiled .ex4, two presets tuned for typical ECN spreads (Standard and Low-frequency), the strategy tester configuration for the sample backtest below, and a PDF explaining each input with screenshots of the chart panel. The chart panel shows the current trend state, the distance to the next entry level and the weekly loss headroom.

Realistic expectations

Trend following on a single pair produces long flat periods and clusters of small losses when EURUSD ranges, which it does for months at a time. The sample backtest on this page spans 2021 to 2025 and includes those periods deliberately. The figures are sample data from a tester and are not a projection. We recommend a demo run of at least eight weeks before allocating live capital.

Questions

Why does Nexus sometimes go a week without trading?

Because it only enters after a confirmed H1 trend and a completed pullback. During ranging weeks those conditions are not met, and the EA's panel will show the trend state as neutral. This is by design and is visible in the sample backtest.

Can I use it on GBPUSD or other pairs?

The presets are tuned for EURUSD's volatility and spread. It will attach to other charts, but the vendor has not tested or published results for them and does not recommend it without your own testing.

Does the news filter need an external service?

No. It uses the calendar data available inside MetaTrader 4 when your broker supplies it. If your broker does not provide calendar data, the filter reports this on the panel and the EA continues to trade with the rollover blackout only.

Risk

Trading carries risk

Leveraged foreign-exchange trading involves substantial risk of loss. Nexus EURUSD Pro trades automatically on your account and can produce extended losing streaks during ranging markets. Stops can be subject to slippage and gaps, particularly over weekends. The backtest shown is sample data from a strategy tester, labelled as such, and does not represent or guarantee future performance. Never risk money you cannot afford to lose.

Trading foreign exchange, metals, indices and other leveraged products carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance, backtests and demo results do not guarantee future results. Automated trading software can lose money quickly, especially with leverage. Only trade with capital you can afford to lose, test every tool on a demo account first, and seek independent financial advice if you are unsure. Nothing on this website is investment advice.
