Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we hear most about buying, installing, licensing and updating tools. Product-specific questions are answered on each product page.
Buying
What exactly do I receive when I buy a tool?
You receive a license for the tool, access to the current release files (the compiled .ex4 or .ex5 file plus any set files and the user guide), and the update entitlement stated on the product page. Files are delivered through your account, never as email attachments. Source code is not included unless the product page explicitly says so.
How do I know whether a tool works on my MetaTrader version?
Every product page lists the supported platform (MT4, MT5 or both) and the platform build we last tested it on. MT4 and MT5 files are not interchangeable: an .ex4 file will not load in MT5 and vice versa. If you are unsure which terminal you run, open Help → About inside MetaTrader. Our guide MT4 vs MT5 for Expert Advisors covers the differences in detail.
Can I try a tool before buying?
Several tools have a free tier or a free companion utility listed under Free tools. For paid Expert Advisors we publish the requirements, installation steps and any vendor-provided test data on the product page so you can judge fit before purchase, and we recommend running every tool on a demo account first. Sample performance shown on this site is labelled as such and is not a forecast.
How does the compare feature work?
Use the compare button on any product card to add up to four tools to the compare tray, then open Compare. The table lines up platform, strategy, symbols, account types, license terms, update policy and support level side by side. Your selection is kept in your browser until you clear it.
Installation
How do I install an Expert Advisor?
Download the release from Account → Downloads, open your terminal's data folder (File → Open Data Folder), copy the file into MQL4/Experts or MQL5/Experts, restart the terminal, then drag the EA onto a chart and enable algorithmic trading. Our step-by-step installation guide includes screenshots of each dialog and the settings that matter.
The EA shows a sad face or “Algo trading disabled”. What now?
A grey or sad-face icon in the chart corner means the terminal is not allowing the EA to trade. Check three things: the Algo Trading (MT5) or AutoTrading (MT4) toolbar button is green; Allow Algo Trading is ticked in the EA's Common tab; and your broker account permits automated trading. The troubleshooting guide walks through the remaining causes, including DLL permissions and symbol suffixes.
Do I need a VPS to run an Expert Advisor?
Not strictly, but an EA only trades while its terminal is running and connected. If your computer sleeps, updates or loses internet, open positions are managed only by the stop orders already on the broker's server. A small Windows VPS located near your broker's servers keeps the terminal online around the clock. See Choosing a VPS for MetaTrader for what to look for.
Licenses
How many terminals or accounts can I use a license on?
Each product page states its activation limit; the default is two concurrent activations. An activation is bound to a terminal installation, so a laptop and a VPS count as two. You can view and release activations yourself from Account → Licenses. Details are in the License policy.
Can I move a license to a new computer or VPS?
Yes. Release the old activation from Account → Licenses and activate on the new machine. Releases are limited to a fair-use number per month to prevent sharing; if you hit the limit after a genuine hardware failure, open a support ticket and we will reset it.
Can I share, resell or bundle a tool I bought?
No. Licenses are personal and non-transferable. Sharing files, publishing them, reselling them or including them in a paid bundle breaches the Terms of service and results in license revocation. If you run a trading business and need multi-seat licensing, contact us for a commercial arrangement.
Updates
Are updates included?
Every paid tool includes updates for the entitlement period shown on its product page (12 months by default). Within that period you can download every new release from your account at no charge. After it ends, the version you have keeps working; renewing the entitlement is optional and is offered at member pricing to subscribers.
How will I know when a new version is released?
We email owners when a new release is published, with the changelog and the platform build it was tested on. You can turn these emails off in Account → Profile → Notifications; the update will still appear on your Downloads page and in the product's update history.
MetaTrader updated itself and my EA stopped working. Is that covered?
Terminal builds occasionally change behaviour that affects compiled tools. When that happens we re-test the affected products, publish a compatibility note in the product's update history and, where a change is needed, release a fix under the normal update entitlement. If your entitlement has lapsed, the fix is included when you renew.
Payments
Why can't I complete checkout yet?
Payments are launching soon. While we complete our payment provider review, checkout saves your cart to your account instead of taking payment, and free tools remain downloadable. Join the waitlist from the contact page and we will email you the day checkout opens. We never mark an order as paid without a verified payment.
Which payment methods will you accept?
We will announce supported methods and countries when checkout opens. Prices are shown in US dollars. Any taxes that apply in your country are calculated at checkout and shown before you confirm.
How do coupon codes work?
Enter a code in the cart or at checkout and the discount is applied to eligible items before tax. One coupon can be used per order, and member pricing is applied first when you are a subscriber. Expired or exhausted codes show a clear message rather than silently failing.
Support
How do I get help with a tool I bought?
Open a ticket from Account → Support and select the product. Include your platform and build number, broker and account type, the symbol and timeframe, and the relevant lines from the Experts and Journal tabs. Tickets with that information are usually resolved in a single reply. See the Support page for response times.
How quickly will I get a reply?
Standard accounts receive a first reply within two business days; Pro and Elite members within one business day. Support hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00 UTC. We do not offer live trading advice or account management.
What does support not cover?
We help you install, activate, update and configure the tools as documented. We cannot advise on which settings will be profitable, recommend brokers or lot sizes, or recover losses. Questions about broker execution, spreads or account rules should go to your broker.
Verification
What do the “Verified” and “Genuine” badges mean?
Genuine means we own the tool or hold written permission from its author to sell it, and the file you download matches the author's release checksum. Verified means we have additionally installed and run the release on a current MT4 or MT5 build and reviewed its documentation. Neither badge is a statement about profitability. The full methodology is on the Genuine EA page.
Are the performance figures on product pages real?
Every performance record is labelled with its source: vendor-provided, backtest, live-verified or demo. Sample listings created for demonstration carry a visible “Sample data” label and are excluded from ratings and structured data. No figure on this site is a guarantee of future results; read the Risk disclosure before trading.
How can I check that my download has not been tampered with?
Each release lists a SHA-256 checksum on your Downloads page. On Windows, run certutil -hashfile yourfile.ex5 SHA256 in a command prompt and compare the output. If it does not match, delete the file, download again and contact support if the mismatch persists.
Still need help?
Questions are grouped by topic. If you cannot find what you need, the Support page explains how to open a ticket and what to include so we can help quickly. For legal questions see the Terms of service, Refund policy and License policy.
