Overview
What Aurora XAU does
Aurora XAU is a short-hold scalping Expert Advisor for XAUUSD on MetaTrader 5. It watches the M5 chart during the London and New York sessions, waits for price to pull back against the prevailing M15 direction, and enters when a small momentum reversal confirms that the pullback is exhausted. Positions are usually open for between four and forty minutes. Every order is sent with a stop loss and take profit attached, and the EA never averages into a losing trade.
Entry and exit logic
The directional bias is derived from a pair of smoothed moving averages on M15 combined with an average-true-range slope check. Entries are only permitted when the M5 pullback has retraced between 38 and 62 percent of the last impulse and a two-bar reversal pattern closes inside that band. Exits use a fixed take profit expressed in ATR multiples, a hard stop loss placed beyond the pullback extreme, and an optional break-even move once price has travelled half the distance to target. If a trade is still open when the session window closes, Aurora tightens the stop rather than closing at market, so that a favourable move is not cut off by the clock.
Risk controls built in
Aurora sizes each position from a fixed percentage of account equity, with a maximum lot cap that you set. A spread filter blocks new entries when the current spread exceeds your threshold, which matters on gold because spreads can triple around US data releases and at rollover. A daily loss limit halts trading for the rest of the day once realised losses reach the configured percentage, and a maximum-trades-per-day input stops the EA from overtrading on choppy days. The EA reads the symbol's digit count and contract size from the terminal, so it works on both two-digit and three-digit gold quotes without changes.
Who it suits
Aurora is designed for traders who already understand that gold scalping depends on execution. It performs best on ECN or raw-spread accounts where the typical XAUUSD spread during London hours is below 25 points, and it should run on a VPS so that the terminal is never asleep when the session opens. Cent accounts are supported for traders who want to run it with very small risk while they build confidence in the setup.
What is included
The download contains the compiled .ex5 file, three .set files (conservative, balanced and active), the exact strategy tester configuration used for the sample backtest shown on this page, and a concise PDF guide covering installation, GMT offset configuration and the meaning of every input. Updates are included for twelve months and delivered through your account downloads page.
Honest expectations
The performance figures on this page are sample data from a tester run and a demo account, clearly labelled as such. They are not a forecast. Gold can move hundreds of points in minutes, and a scalping system will experience losing days and losing weeks. Run Aurora on a demo account first, compare its behaviour with the sample results, and only then decide whether it fits your risk tolerance.

Questions
Does Aurora XAU work on a netting account?
Yes. Aurora holds at most one position at a time and never hedges, so it behaves identically on netting and hedging MT5 accounts.
How do I know my GMT offset is correct?
Compare your broker's server time in the Market Watch window with the current UTC time. The difference in hours is your offset; enter it as a positive or negative number. The guide includes a table of common brokers and their summer and winter offsets.
Can I run it on more than one account?
The license allows two activations, which most customers use for one live and one demo account. You can move an activation from your account page if you change brokers.
Support
Support is provided by Northwind Quant Labs through the marketplace ticket system. Typical first response is within two business days. Please attach your terminal build number, broker name, the preset you loaded and the relevant lines from the Experts log so the team can reproduce the issue. License transfers between accounts are handled from your account page.
Risk
Trading carries risk
Trading leveraged gold contracts carries a high risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. Aurora XAU places real orders on your account and can lose money quickly during volatile sessions, particularly around US economic releases and geopolitical headlines. The daily loss limit reduces but does not eliminate the possibility of larger losses caused by gaps or slippage. Sample performance shown on this page comes from a strategy tester and a demo account, is labelled as sample data and is not indicative of future results. Only trade with capital you can afford to lose.
Trading foreign exchange, metals, indices and other leveraged products carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. Past performance, backtests and demo results do not guarantee future results. Automated trading software can lose money quickly, especially with leverage. Only trade with capital you can afford to lose, test every tool on a demo account first, and seek independent financial advice if you are unsure. Nothing on this website is investment advice.
